Holy shit, Dirk is the man. 53 points, 11 boards. He took over OT, scored the first 10 points in the period. T-Mac had 48 and he wasn't even the high scorer, pwnd.

He had 16 rebounds, guy. And McGrady had 9 assists to Dirk's 2, so technically he was responsible for more points than Dirk. And he shot a higher percentage. Dirk had so many points because the Rockets don't know how not to foul.

Dirk had 16 rebounds to McGrady's 9. Dirk had 3 steals to McGrady's 2. Dirk had 4 blocks to McGrady's 3. McGrady also had 2 turnovers to Dirks 1.
So lolz omg Dirk created much more scoring potential for his team teehee

plus T-Mac missed a free-throw that would have given the rockets the lead with like 30 seconds left.

welcome to the 50 point club Dirk. I remember having the basketball cards for different players with the little 50 point club symbol in the corner.

I was replying to the bit about McGrady being "pwnd" by dropping 48 and not being the high scorer. If you want to go into all of the stats, though...you'd have to assume that the teams scored on every single play that immediately followed a Dirk or McGrady rebound, steal, or block, and even then Dirk would have been responsible for only 4 more points than McGrady. Not likely. An assist, on the other hand, says without doubt that somebody scored because of you. Therefore, unless the Mavs shot 80% on plays immediately following a Dirk rebound, steal, or block...McGrady was directly responsible for more of his team's points.
Factoring in the number of made 3-pointers, and field goal percentage...McGrady had a better fantasy-league game than Dirk did. :)

Sorry, I'm not a fantasy league dork
I actually tried to figure up what you were talking about, but didnt end up posting. I didnt moron-ically assume that the Mavericks scored on every posession. I figured up Dirk's extra posessions factoring in that the Mavericks shot 48% and yada yada yada, minus turnovers, etc
I dont remember what all that came out to and I ended up not posting it because I thought it was overkill, but they were within points of eachother. McGrady was still slightly ahead, because Dirk couldnt overcome those 9 assists and 18 extra points (maybe more on three's but without watching the whole tape and meticulousy counting, we'll never know).
I'm sure they both had extraordinarly high +/- ratings or whatever they call it
Having said that, Dirk still came out on top, and McGrady even choked at the line with the game on the line. So...

I never claimed Dirk was more efficient anyway. I figured those stats for my own curiousity, just to see how close they were if at all. But not to try to 'prove' you wrong or because of any interest in fantasy-league dorkisms.
My initial post about the rebounds was an utterly sarcastic response to your haterade-filled downgrading of Dirk's performance and homerism of McGrady.
Your desire to make McGrady 'technically' better is moot since Dirk's team won and that's all that matters anyway. McGrady had a good game but was overshadowed by the Diggler in all his glory.
Maybe Stojakovic can give him some pointers on coping with choke-isms when the game is on the line

James said that the fact that T-Mac had a better game than Dirk is moot because the Mavericks won the game. I'm saying the fact that the Mavericks won the game is moot because they've proven that no matter how many regular-season games they win, they can not win a title. I thought "what I was going for" would be quite obvious, but apparently not. It's alright, though...we're all a little slow on the uptake from time to time.
Also, it'd be difficult for T-Mac to have lead the Rockets to a title 1/3 of a way into his first season with the team. If you're going to attempt to turn a comment I make around on me...be sure it makes at least a little bit of sense. Kthx.

Problem is, T-Mac didn't have a better game, take in all your fantasy aspects but they mean shit in the standings. Dirk led the Mavs to victory which is more important than a few assists. True the Mavericks have not won a championship, but has T-Mac, no. Will he this season? No. I'm sorry I must be slow but, I don't see how the Mavs past playoff failures have anything to do with T-Mac having the better game.

I suppose I can forgive you for being slow, but at least answer me this: did you even read my last post? That comment had nothing to do with which player had the better game. It was a separate statement pointing out that it doesn't matter whether the Mavs beat the Rockets by 7 or lost to them by 70, because they'll still suck it up in the playoffs, per their usual.
Also, the final score has nothing to do with which player had the best individual effort. Your saying "Dirk had a better game because his team won" is like saying, "Barry Bonds hit 3 homeruns last game, but Albert Pujols, who went 0-5, had a better game because the Cardinals beat the Giants." Even going by the NBA's efficiency ratings, McGrady had a better game. It's not his fault that the rest of his team didn't pick up the slack. The statistics might "mean shit in the standings," but this thread was about individual stats, not the standings. If you wanted to talk about which team won the game, you probably should have started a thread about that instead of one about individual players' stats...don'tcha think?

The one over Bowen was especially cromulent. I hate Bowen's guts with a passion. Almost as much as Show-be
Plus, what kind of supertard is an excellent 3 point shooter, but has the free-throw shooting prowess of Shaq? Now that's just plain ghey.
Although he did jump kick Wally Craperzack in the face that one time. That was pretty cool.
