Is the Hills Have Eyes remake going to suck?

I've seen the original, and I’m a fan. I actually am excited for this remake, however, and think that it will be good, or at least an entertaining watch.
The director made the nearly good horror film "high tension", and I believe he has some potential - especially for sheer gruesomeness. High Tension was about 20 minutes away from excellence. He's good at creating a creepy atmosphere and maintaining suspense. This film had rumors of originally obtaining an NC-17 rating, and its sure to be a "hard R" film, so none of this PG-13 mumbo jumbo.

I knew nothing of an original however I am intrigued to see this.
Looks like Ill have to scope the shelves of Hollywood video to see if they have a copy of the old.
When did it first come out?

The late 70s. It was one of Wes Craven's first movies.
