my friggin camcorder just went wacky on me.

Im going to buy a new mini-dv one, but i have some very important crap i need to get off some old tapes first.

anyone have a sony digital 8 camcorder i can borrow for a couple of days? wont be doing anything w it but sittin it next to my computer ripping videos.

Good luck.. those aren't so common nowadays, are they? With mini-DV and all. I have a magical mini-DV cam, but that won't help you.

they still sell a few hi8's, and a couple digi8's too. i dont need a new one tho, it was be 87423 years old as long as it can read a digital8 tape :)

and i could buy/return but a lot of times they charge like 15% gay restocking fee

Dude, hit up a pawn shop. You can grab an old crappy one that will do the job, for around $20 bucks. Then you can make a necklace out of it and let it swing LIKE A PIMP.

*edit* Actually, I forgot I had one in the closet. It's a Sony Handycam Video8, model ccd-v5. It's JUST the camera, if you have the rest I'll send it to you if you can cover the shipping or want to come to H-E-B.

thanks for the offer, i wouldnt be able to use it tho bc 90% of my tapes are the digital8 ones, the video8 wont read those.

but anyways, i went to bestbuy and bought a brand new one...

i get home, put in the 3 tapes i tried in my old one, none of them worked in this cam either!

im like wtf ok whatever, ill pull out some old ones i havent tried.

ONE finnally worked, but now doesnt. none of the others do, except like one in 15 times.

WHAT THE HELL!!! i know all of my friggin 45 tapes arent "corrupt" and if so, thats fucking insane.

i dunno what to do now...

correction, any tape that ever touched my last camera isnt working (w one or 2 exceptions)

all the OLD OLD tapes from like 2 cams ago work.. wtf

like, dirty heads? u think if i bought a head cleaner tape thing it would fix it?

Probably not, since it looks like the problem's with the tapes now. You MIGHT try just cleanin' the heads then running a tape thru and seeing if it helps clean the tape in the process. It's crazy enough..it just might work.
