I love classical music, and metal influenced-by-classical even more

i also love classical music. taught my self electric for 2 or 3 years when i was 14. got pretty good at it, then took classical guitar lessons...and i loved it...enhanced fingerwork and theory.... almost applied to SMU's classical guitar program at Meadows School of the Arts, but i would have crashed and burned academically, and finacially.
im learning moonlight sonata at the moment. sounds easy, but its a bitch to play *not only because its over 10 minutes long but also because some of the notes they want you to play...well human hands just couldnt have been made for this. and most translations for guitar dont even have all the notes in it because of sheer complexity

Coincidentally, i was just listening to moonlight sonata. Im sure you have all heard them before, but Trans Siberian Orchestra is an excellent mix between classical and guitar. The beethoven CD is great, and the christmas one is alright too. "Beethovens Last" is by far their best song in my opinion
You guys like songs like the Awakening, Handel's Messiah, Dream a Dream, or Gloria?
Also, a great song to check out is "Gladiator, the Battle", type it in kazaa or something and it should come up; about 10mb file.
Dvorak is one of my personal favorites, but Beethoven has the best mix of choices, ranging from violens, operas, dramatic, soft, explosive, etc.
The chamber symphony by Shostakovich is pretty good as well.
Me and Kris were gunna go see the new world symphony at the meyerson back in september, but we got screwed out of our tickets. oh well
A group you may want to check out is dream theater, its alot of heavy metal, its 95% instrumental, some of their songs are really good. Most people who like classical and rock like them. Streams of consciousness is probably my favorite from them. Theyre all about 8-15 minutes long

I already have all of dreams theaters albums. They're one of my favorite bands. metropolis pt 2: scenes from a memory is their best album; I do like train of thought though. A very small part of their music is classically influenced however. I was thinking someone more like rising force by malmsteen.

I played the cello for four years. I was badass. In honesty, I miss playing music altogether.

Dream Theater's actually pretty mainstream for anyone that's into any kind of progressive music, just the majority of people your age to my age have a pretty cliche taste in music so anything that doesn't get much television or radio time doesn't exist ;p

I had to lug a damned cello on the bus with me in fourth grade.. the cello was bigger then i was. (switched to the cornet by 6th grade)

Oh, believe me, I have plenty of fond memories concerning my struggles with cello transportation. It really was a pain in the ass.

How could anyone deny the awesomeness of classical music? There's only one man who hates enough things to possibly do so: Patrick. Where is that negative bastard?
