First.. previous high was 43, me thinks.
I think Iverson scored 60 this season(and a couple other 50's), so I guess James is second high on the season. Staudamire got 50, too. maybe 51? And I think Damon Staudamire got 50.. or at least close. I can't remember and am too lazy to look.

Seriously though, Dwayne Wade>Lebron. Lebron can't lead his team. Wade led his team to the playoffs last year, and Miami is tearing it up again this year. Shaq may have a little to do with that though.

No, Grant Hill's return, Howard, and Francis turned the team around.
And Wade didn't really carry the team. They had a good pack around him last year. And now he just rides O'Neal. I think any SG or PG in the league would be good beside Shaq.

Heh, I love Kevin.
Seriously though, Dwayne Wade>Lebron. Lebron can't lead his team. Wade led his team to the playoffs last year, and Miami is tearing it up again this year. Shaq may have a little to do with that though.
Negative. Who do the Cavs have playing alongside LeBron? This year, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Drew Gooden. Last year, Zydrunas and Carlos Boozer. Who does Dwayne Wade have? This year, Shaquille O'Neal and Eddie Jones. Last year, Lamar Odom, Caron Butler, and Eddie Jones. To say he's better than LeBron simply because his team does better is like saying that Allen Iverson isn't a good player because his team isn't an annual contender for the title. LeBron, statistically, is better than Wade across the board. He can't help it that he isn't surrounded with the same level of talent that Wade is.
It'd be more appropriate to make a relative comparison, so we'll do just that: how big of a turnaround did the franchise experience when each player joined the squad? 2002-03, the Heat were 25-57. The Cavs were 17-65. 03-04, each player's rookie year...the Heat were 39-43, the Cavs 35-47. That's a 14 game turnaround for the Heat, and an 18 game turnaround for the Cavs. LeBron can lead his squad just fine. Trade Zydrunas for Shaq and we can go ahead and compare the current squads. I guarantee you the Cavs would be "tearing it up this year," too.

nickbahh
03-23-2005, 02:03 PM
I've seen them both live. I like Wade's style of play better. He takes the ball to the basket more, gets to the free throw line. Whats Lebron avg. 26...Wade avg around 24. Lebron takes more shots, but their percentage is about the same, if Wade took that many shots he would be leading. D-Wade can block shots too.

Wait, we're bringing in individual stats? Alrighty.
LeBron James averages more points, assists, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, steals...a higher 3-point percentage, and fewer turnovers and fouls per game. Wade bests LeBron in blocks per game and FT percentage (by 1.1%).
Oh, and LeBron is 3 years younger.

mkay, points because he takes more shots, lebron shoots jumpshots where wade gets to the free throw line. both average 7 assists(lebron is up by percentage points), wade leads in offensive rebounds so im not sure where that came from, lebron has him in defensive though i can admit that...but in his defense shaq is takin all his boards, again both average about two steals, turnovers also true lebron holds an edge in there. and i wasnt aware that age was a factor in determining who was better.
P.S. Lary Bird is the man.
Michael Fornal
03-23-2005, 05:19 PM
Haha, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. LeBron is second in the league only to Shaq for points in the paint. (So, obviously the fact that LeBron has less FT's per game just means Wade gets better calls. That, or he can't finish inside so he gets two shots instead of one. Take your pick)
Wade is a guard who handles the ball every time down the court and still has less assists than LeBron, who isn't the primary ball handler on his team.
Lets not forget to mention LeBron is third in the league in the NBA's efficiency rating, behind dirk and garnett. Wade is... 11th. Not even top on his team.
Oh, but don't worry, Wade is 2nd in the league in turnovers. And #1 in turnovers per 48 minutes. Good job, Wade!
And if you try to make it seem like their steals are close because of "just percetage points," you're crazy. James has over half a steal a game more than him.
NatrlBornThrllr
03-23-2005, 05:44 PM
Everything Mike said, plus...
LeBron gets it done in the paint, and from beyond the arc, at a higher rate than Wade does (hence the fact that he scores more points every game). He averages more assists than Wade, too (with shittier players to pass it to, nonetheless)...so it's not that he's being a ball-hog when scoring more points a game. He averages well over a half a steal more per game than Wade. He turns the ball over about 1 less time per game (making his assist to turnover ratio a hell of a lot better than Wade's, and Wade is a PG). He fouls about half as often. He pulls down 2 more boards a game.
Statistically, he is a better player...no matter what kind of spin you attempt to put on things. The efficiency rankings say all that needs to be said.
Efficiency Formula: ((PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK) - ((FGA - FGM) + (FTA - FTM) + TO)) / G

Its not even a steal a game difference, they are both in the top ten. Wade is helping his team win, while lebron can't do anything but rack up points in a loss. LeBron James will never win a championship as long as he plays for Cleaveland. Dwayne Wade with Miami will have a good shot...though I don't think anybody is gonna beat the Spurs if Duncan gets healthy. Dwayne Wade is the better player IMO and nothing you can say is going to change that. LeBron is awesome, but Wade is who I would rather have on my team.

You keep saying "it's not even a steal a game difference." A .6 steal per game differential is a lot. The league leader only averages 2.8 steals a game...it's not like we're talking about points here. Iverson leads the league with 30 points a game. That's over 10x the league leader in steals. So an 0.6 steal a game difference is the same as a 6+ points per game difference...not chump change, and definitely worth mentioning.
And you keep going back to Wade being better because his team wins more. I already pointed out how inaccurate that train of thought is...but you chose to respond with some random AIM conversation instead, so I won't waste my time addressing that again.
You're wrong...whether we change your mind or not.

Soooo let me get this straight, you say that .6 steals= 6+ points. 1 extra steal every two games is not going to change a whole lot. Besides once you factor in Wades lead in blocks it almost becomes null and void.
I'm not saying Wade is better because his team wins more, I'm saying Wade is better because Wade is better. Because he is better his team wins more.
I'm right...so I don't need to change my mind.

I'm saying that when comparing two players' averages, a .6 steal per game differential isn't the drop in a bucket you've attempted in consecutive posts to make it out to be. And Wade is better because Wade is better, even though his stats across the board are worse? Well when you put it that way, I guess our little debate is wrapped up.
