It's true, that's why I can't listen to hardcore type music, the screaming just bothers me. If you want to scream/yell that's fine but don't do it overtop of good playing cause it ruins it. Get a talented singer. Of course that's just my view, I know there are a lot of people who love the screaming.

I agree with you Derek.
It takes some sort of talent [if you can call it that] to scream at the top of your lungs for hours on end. Heck, if I scream once my throat hurts like a beeyatch.
At least when Linkin Park (or anybody of that genre) screams they at least mix in some decent singing with it, and it's not too bad, if at all.

When I said 'of that genre' I mean the bands that scream but also sing.
I don't know what it's called, nor do I care.
You emo/punk/rock/hardcore/folklore/trendy/alternative/techno/whatever folk have so many different labels you attach to everything it's way lame and out of hand.
It's all hypocritical.
Additionally, Patrick, all I established was that the singer from linkin park has a decent singing voice.

its no different than the distinctions in soul, rap, r&b, hip hop, gospel, dirty south, east coast, west coast rap, etc...

You're probably right but to someone who doesn't care for most of the music it's hard to be able to tell the difference between all of them.
I hate when one of you [you folks in the know that know the different labels for all these different styles] asks me what I like, and I'll start naming off 'rock' [a generality...i mean it is all still classified in GENERAL under rock, some derivitive thereof, right] bands, songs, or groups I like I hate hearing crap like:
'you're stupid, emo sucks' 'you're stupid, indy sucks' 'they suck, they're posers'
If it sounds good to me, I don't care what the label of genre is. Heck, I don't even know the labels.
But then again I only listen to the radio and as you people have told me the radio 'sucks and only plays posers' or something to that effect.
